Salaries of the justices of the su preme court would bo increased from 51'50 to $7500 by a bill which was introduced today by Senator Staples. Salaries of district court judges would be increased from three thou sand to four thousand dollars a year through a proposed bill brought to Salem by Judge Ashby C- Dickson. The measure with several others pre. pared on behalf of the State Bar as sociation. Judge Dickson is chairman of the association's committee to draft these measures A bill introduced in the bouse by Fuller of Polk and Linn counties would place salaried peace officers of the state under the operations of the Oregon workmen's compensation act. MR. BURGHDUFF ACTS STATE HOUSE, SALEM, Ore., Jan. 10. Legislation to give the state game commission authority to declare closed season in times of emergencies will be sought at the present session. Captain A. E. Huhghduff, state game warden, is working on the measure which will be brought ! up shortly. 111 The last session of the legislature endeavored to give such power, but the authority placed In the hands o( the commission was nullified by court decision which held that the law was too elastic and not specific. Mr. Burgbduff pointed out that many fires might have been averted had the commission been able to de clare a closed deer sou son Inst fall. He also pointed out that on account of extreme low- water, many streams! in eastern uregon should have been closed last summer as a protection and conservation measure.
