With Dr. lloss and Jolm C Watch, iJie governor's appointee, contending f.ir rei-ignition, P. Keudull, chairniuu of tbe commis sion, recognized Koas. lu Ins contention that he had not been officially removed Dr. Ho opened his legal battle against the lovernor with the charge th.it Veatcli's appointment was illernl. Through his attorney he declared tiia: eaten bad been commissioned by the governor on January 10. He present, ed the letter in which he was formal ly removed, dated January 1'2. and held that Watch could not have be-u seated before he was removed. The action was takeu in spite of thy efforrs of V. T. Kukin of Astoria, member of the commission, who said Attorney (ioneral Van Winkle Jiad told him Monday that Dr. Ross' re-1 moval was legal. Mr. Watch also pro- J tested the action, ami both men made! the point that the business of the meeting would be illegal when th opinion of the attorney general ar rived. The meeting was attended by V) fishermen from coat districts armed with n resolution asking the removal of A. t Rosa, master fish warden, and the reiustntement of Carl D. Shoemaker to that position. Dr. Ross brought the climax to the mooting when he introduced a resolution to dismiss A. C. Rosa, his cousin, on the grounds of ineffectenoy nnd disloyalty. Mr. Kakiu dissented. Mr. Kendall expressed the belief th.it A. C. Roas had been Inerfeclont aud recommended that the resolution be hold for consideration nt a' Inter meeting and this wan agreed to.
