E In the first Intercollegiate, game of the rtoribweat conference for both teams, tbe L' Diversity of Oregon bas kctball quintet will face the Willam ette university five n the armory court tiaturday evening. The game, though doped for Oregon, is expect ed to be hard-fought from the word So Willamette Is plared In a class with Whitman, according to the dope taken from pre-seunoq games, espe ciatly the clashes with the Multno mah Athletic club of Portland. Both teams came out with practically tbe same 'results, and from every indica tion were of practically tbe same call bei. , . Whitman then met Idaho on her home floor, and took a decisive beat' ing. The next night she played AV. H. C. at Pullman, and was defeated by an even worse score. From that 't would seem certain that Whitman's team is weak. If the comparison holds true, AWllainette will not make strong a (mowing in the conference race, either. Oregon players, however, are du bious about the dope. They think Willamette is stronger than the ad vance information shows, and they rate themselves as weak. Willamette is out to clean tip, if possible, to start ber northwest sea son righ The Bearcats are fast, end are hard players, no matter how they may compare with some of the larger conference teams. The game should throw a good deal of light on the outlook fur the re mainder of the season for Oregon. ItOSKHl'HG, Ore., Jan. 0.
