The cost of construction is esti mated to be below the average for moun tain road construction. The new survey reduces the distance from Kugenj to Crater lake by more than lTrt) miles and opens up a richly timbered area. A wonderful scenic drive is made possible nround Summit and Crescent lukes and numerous camp sites are ti bo found along the Willamette river.. No federal funds have yet been ap portioned for constructing a road on this survey, but Lane county has voted $152. 000 in bends to be spent between Iowcll and the summit. The survey was completed by the bu reau of public roads in co-operntion with the state of Oregon. Chief of I toad Sur vey Party C. H.
