III 1 EUGENE DAILY GUARD Market Place for Both Buyer IS 01 Prices Lower at Close on Chica go Exchange. Prospects of Big Corn Crop Lowers Price. (By Th Attoeiattd Prtti) Chief. go, Mny 21. With speculation in whent all but eliminated on the botml of trade by the establishment of nmsiimim prices, oata traders todny took posses sion of the pit historically sacred to wheat, although there was Utile trading. A notice in the new oata pit stated that with the approach of warmer wea ther the augmented oats group, reinforc ed by many former wheat brokers, need ed roomier quarters. Wheat prices dropped S to 10 cents early but recovered. Lowness of prices, inck of restrictions on trading and tho magnitude of recent export dealings all helped to widen out the business in oats. There was a no table absence of offerings and the mar ket developed decided firmness. Ad vances, however, hardly exceeded one cent, with July inclined to steady nt OS. Welcome rains over the entire wheat belt gave tho bears an advantage aud ao too did reports thnt shipments of more than 1,000,000 bushels of wheat to the United States from Australia had been made. A big decrease in the United States visible supply total failed to bring the market any support. The close was weak 7c net lower with July at $2.:ttJ and September at $2.10. Cold unfavorable weather gave strength to com. Trading was on a fairly liberal scale. After opening 1-4 to 1 1-4 off, the market scored moderate general gains. Hepnrts that planted acreage this sea son would be the lnrgest on record led subsequently to a bearish reaction. The clrse was heavy at l-4c to 1 1-Sc net decline. Provisions weakened in sympathy with tho hog market. Dealings were almost altogether in lard and wba. WALL SfrfUCET New York, May 21. The v;ek on the stock exchange opened with a confident lesumption of the recent advance, Indus- TIME TABLE SOUTHERN -PA&triO COMPANY Main Line Nor'iibound.
