dena are no Places for
Poor Man.
' '.' Angeles, Feb. 17.1910.
Editor Guard: This is something
like a" Oregon morning when the
thermometer stands about 25 de
grees. This Is the land of sunshine,
milk and honey. . We spent Sunday
in the show city of California. It has
wide streets, well paved and Judging
from appearances the people take
great civic pride in their city. Pas
adena as well as Los Angeles is a
rich man's town. A poor man has
no business hi either place. From
Pasadena we visited the Wentworth
hotel between Los Aangeles and Pas
adena. This structure covers several
aeres of ground and ia built of con
crete and I am told It is to be when
finished ten stories high. It is now
five stories; high and bas been lying
unfinished several years.
Everything in California is done
on a big scale and from the nature
of their soil to have a nice place
here. One would have to stand with
the water hose in one hand and his
purse in the other, most of the time
in the summer seasou. We have not
been ljoiueslck since we came here
from lack of rain, but think it is
most time we were making garden j
in the laud of the big red apples, so
will take the boat for Portland on !
Tuesday of next week.
