Rocke feller has completed the task he set for himself in founding the Univer sity of Chicago. Today public an nouncement was made or a single and final" gift of $10,000,000 which includes all the contributions Mr. Rockefeller has planned. The sum is to be paid In ten an nual Installments beginning Janu ary 1 and will make approximately $35,000 which he has donated to the university. Mr. Rockefeller says he now believes the school should be supported and enlarged by gifts of many rather than those of the single donor. This, he believes, will be better accomplished if the public under stands the limit of his contemplated assistance. The founding of the new department he leaves to the trustees as he says funds may ibe furnished by other friends. Nearly $7,000,000 has been donat ed to the university In addition to Mr. Rockefeller's gifts. With the announcement of Mr. Rockefeller's final donation, came the resignation of John Di. Rockerfoller's persona! representative from the unlvors t board of trustees. Announcement of the gift was made at the quarterly convocation at the university this afternoon. MOCK FOUND GUILTY OF SECOND DEGREE MURDER Jacksonville, Or., Dec. 2 0. The jury in the Mock murder trlnl last evening returned a verdict of mur der in the second degree, after being out five hours. For hours the jury stood 10 to 2 for hanging before a compromise was reached. This is the culmination of one of the most sensational and probably cold blood ed murders in the history of Jack son county. Mock stabbed Jesse Smith to death with a pocket knife at Medford Sept. 20. The defense was weak though it had good mater ial for a plea of self defense. THE ONLY STORE In Eugene where you can 'buy the celebrated VICTORIA CHOCOLATES is Otto's.
