Although It has been denied from America, it 1h rumored and re-rumored that Maud Allen the famous barefoot dancer, who bad a great vogue In British so ciety last fall, has had more or less to do with the Asquiths and their family troubles. Miss Allen, according to a cabled dispatch, says she was not an inti mate friend of the family, and met (Mr. Asquith and his wife only casu ally at receptions and luncheons and dinners where all were bidden. From one of Mrs. Asqulth's own set, how ever, it Is learned that Miss Allen has been giving the wife of the premier lessons in the art to which she has devoted herself. It is said, too. that the example set by Lady Constance Richardson In leaving her position In society and going upon the stage made a profound Impression upon Mrs. Asquith. To Mr. Asquith. whose position especially demands a con genial wife, her dancing lessons are said to have been abhorrent. Mrs. Asquith has always been am bitions, and if there is a title to be gained by waiting, the separation may be Indefinitely postponed. So London gossips and seeks to solve the puzzle, and gets no further any day. Sam Berger today give some new point ers on the training Jeff will do at Rowardennan after AdtII 1. Berger la vexed over the comment of some Eastern fight -writers, who said that Jeff was making a big mis take not to place some old hand like Deleny in charge of his camp. "Jeffries." said Berger, "is In a better position to tell when he Is In danger of going stale than any of the so-called trainers. Further, It does not require a man endowed with more than usual ability to tell the condition of a man, especially If you are in daily association with 'him. I might add that I was placed In charge of the training camp not on my own suggestion but because Jef fries requested it. "I shall return not later than Mar. 30 and go direct to the training 'amp. For the first week or 10 days Jeff will confine his work to hill climbing, rowing and perhaps a little time in the gymnasium. He may begin light boxing a week after he has been there, sparring with Bob Armstrong. Cotch has tele graphed me that he will report April 1. which will give us a good force of men." Watches!
