GRAVEL IN SIGHT IS NOT IN THE CRUSHER Carson Mathews, the owner of the stone crusher near the pumping plant tins his troubles Ilka all men. In or der to get gravel from the bar across the river he built a staunch ferry boat to run by the current. But it won't run. He also constructed a drag bucket to be pulled across the river along the bottom. The drag came all right, but the bottom of the river Is so rough that all the gravel was shaken from Its maw. Now he is planning to fill the bot tom of the river with gravel, so that it will be made level, but there Is no assurance that the stream won't sweep the leveling substance away, for the current there is swift. Bidders will be required to accom pany bid with sample of pins and In sulators they propose to supply and state terms of delivery after accept ance of proposal.
