Lundfall was drowned in a colli

and a lauuo.h ownei by Gus Dawson.
When he was brought up by Brady,
Lundlal! had a beer bottle opener
tightly clutched In one hand. Coroner
Norden will net 'hold an Inquest.
Members of the Eugene Lodge, No.
27i, of the Ragles 'have sent word
that they will arrange for hU funeral
services and burial.
Collector of Customs Malcolm yes
terday exonerated Captain Campbell
of the Hustler from any blame for
the accldwnt. and' fined Dawson, the
launch owner, S200 for being m the
river after sunset with tils lights not
lit, as the pilot laws require. Daw
son had a hearing before the Collec

admitted that his lights were not lit
when the Occident occurred. Under
the laws, the launch Itself is seized
and held by the collector until the
fine 1s paid, regard leas of who the
owner may be.

The destination of thes machines
is generally the A-V-P exposition, and
the majority bt them are from Cali
fornia. The trip is becoming-very
popular, and a Los Angeles man In
town today said that he thought that
there would be no leBs than forty
machines from there In the next few
weeks. The Elks' convention has
closed and a great many of these will
'make this trip.
The road from California is said to
be quite good and the trip over the
mountains is not bad if the driver is
f xperlenced and keeps his machine in
good condition and under control, es
pecially his brake adjusted. A great
many cars, however, often meet with

td up with temporary repairs, or a
smashed headlight or other more or
less trivial results of accidentB are of
ten noticed. The local garages ana
repair men get more or less business
from this source. There is said to
be a difficult pass between Portland
and Seattle which often catches a dri
ver who has begun to think he is al
ready there.
If you are looking for nice clean

to visit the new "Park Hotel," op
