BALL TEAM TO GO TO JAPAN Japanese CoIIcri-h Will Take Oregon In Karly Season. The University baseball team will take the proposed trip to Japan, if the faculty of the University will permit the absence of the team from April 20, 1910, until the end of the college year. Harper Jamison, manager of the 1910 team, has received a letter from the associated college nines In Japan stating that the college nines of the Oriental empire can give the Oregon tenm games In what Is known as the early season. Presldont Campbell is favorable to the trip, believing that a tour would be worth a year of college. He also believes that the action of the faculty will be favorable. Tbe baseball squad had a proposi tion to go this year, but the playing seasons in Japan are such that they conflict with tbe college work here. Japan has a wet season In the mid dle of the summer,' which divides the year into spring and autumn periods. Sweotser, professor of biol ogy at the University, is trying to change the name of the common house fly to typhoid fly. His purpose Is to create a prejudice against tho Insect that will make people In gen eral abhor the creature. "Every time a fly lights on a piece of bread It leaves thousands and thousands of germs, a great many of which may be pathogenic or danger ous to man," says tne professor. When a fly drops In cream or milk even more germs "and bacteria are washed off, and as milk Is an excel lent breeding ground, tho common fly is a constant menace."
