Three hundred and fifty
seven dollars and five cents
was gathered in by the wo
men of the Women's Auxil
iary of the Commercial Club
yesterday, and eighty-two
dollars and forty cents were
given to them in promises, to
erect an electric fountain at
tne depot park. This sum is
a little less than half ' that
needed to erect the fountain.
The next meeting of the
auxiliary will be held tomor
row night, when plans for
raising tlft rest of the money
will be discussed.

to visit his mother. He has been
employed as cook at the Stocks, and
Is a remarkable character. He was
at one tipie a saloon-keeper in Ore
gon, but local option killed his bus
iness, and he left the state, leaving

He visited every stale in the unloiW
and spent all his money. He took up
cooking and came to the Stocks
nine months ago. During tne
meetings the past winter he
took a stand for righteousness under
the standard of Christianity. Since
then he has. realized on some min

to bis home at Eugene, Oregon, iO'

ing clothes, and the men come right

will be devoted to the triangular
track meet this year and the Junior
oratoricals wilL furnish the evening
