still standing. A trip to .Mt. Consti
tution Is well worth the time and

In the lakes and hunting about, the
islands.
A trip of a day down the strait of
Juan do Fuea to the Pacific Ocean
would no doubt appeal to the visitors
to the exposition from Inland towns
and cities. Steamers leave Seattle
daily for Port Townsend. Port An
geles. Dunseness, Port Williams. C'ul
lam. Neah Hay and other points of
InicroHt. In the Olympic 'mountains,
about sixteen miles from Port An
geles, Is Lake Orescent, where the
fishing is unequalled. The steam
ers make connection with the stage
lines at Port Angeles carrying pas
sengers direct to the hotel. The open
season for hunting big gnmo comes
before the close of t ho exposition and
guides und outfits can be secured at
Port Angeles.
There are many points of Interest
to be seen In the trips about tin
sound. iear Tuoma is American
Lake, a beautiful body of water, and
Point Defiiinc! is one of the most
popular pleasure resorts on the
sound. A trip to Snoqualmle Falls,
nenr Seattle, should not be over
looked. Mountain resorts are reached with
in n very few hours by rail nnd on the
trip to Dclllnghum the steamers go
through Deception Pass, where, dur
ing tho change of tide, the waters
rush like a mlllrace. The Hole In
the Wall Is a picturesque hit of scen
ery on the sound, as well as the gov
ernment fortifications near Port
Townsend.
It requires about five hours to
make the trip to Olytnpia, the state
capital, nnd this voyage Is one of the
beautiful short excursions on the
sound. On the way the steamers
pass McNeil's island, where the fed
eral prison Is located. Kxcurslon
steamers make the round trip in a
day during the summer months for
$1.50 the round trip. Tumwater
Falls, near Olympin. is where the
first white settlement was made in
the state of Washington. Short trips
by water requiring n few hours' time
can be made to Everett, around Ilain
brldge islands to Port Illakely and
the Kagle Harbor shipyards.
