Professor (;etrg Sawyers, principal of the Oak- , land public schools of this county, I has disappeared and his friends and relatives are seeking ui wnereuunum. Shortly after Christmas Professor Sawyer left Oakland for lied Hluff, Cal., to spend a few days duck hunt ing In that vicinity. Ho waa expect ed home last Bunday night so as to bo ready for the re-opening of the school Monday morning. His failure to appear aroused alarm and telegraphic Inquiries were made. It was found that he had registered at a hotel at ited Bluff December 29, but no further trace of him has been leurned. It Is nut known how long he was at the hotel at Ited Bluff. That he has been the victim of foul play or has met with some Berlous accident while hunting are the the ories advanced here. The Oaklnnd lodge of Odd Fel lows, of which Professor. Sawyer was a member, has Joined In the quest, and unless the missing man Is heard from by Wednesday morning the lodge will send two men to Ked Bluff to Investigate, one being commission ed as a deputy sheriff. WEDDING BELLS RING OUT AT FLORENCE A very pretty home wedding took place at the resldenco of Mr- and Mrs. Marlon Morris In Florence on Wednesday, December 30, 1908, when their eldest daughter, Violet M., was united In marriage to Lou la M.
