There has not been at any state or presidential elec tion that the people have contested the Issue so spirited as at the spe cial tax election held on last Sat urday. The vote first was on, "shall we fix the road, commencing nt High Hank and going east?" The vote carried by a big majority. The esti mate on tho parts montloned was $435. It would require a three-mill tax, so the vote was taken and the re sult was a majority of nine over all opposition, allowing two votes under challengo opposed to the tax. After tho adjournment. Mr. Piatt called or der and stated that Inasmuch as a tull attendance was present. It would be a good time to get a fair expres sion as to the choice of the district sent in in the form of a vigorous protest. The Mound school closed for a two weeks' vacation Friday. A very nice school program was rendered at our school house last Friday night after which a nice dance and supper was given. Earl Parsons was In our midst on Friday night. ! There were several people from i Alma up to attend our program and dance; among whom were Jack ' Johnson and wife, who reside at pres- ent on the Pugh place.
