THERE ARE BIG DOINGS' IN BASEBALL WORLD New York, Dec. 7. With the air Oill of vague rumors and war talk. the leading spirits of toe world of (Sjirganlzed baseball held an aoimated Tcouncil at the Waldorf-Astoria to day, with side skirmishes at the Vic toria and several other hostelrlea where the magnates oi the big and little leagues are wont to congregate. It Is a good safe bet that baseball history will be made as a result of the several meetings on this week, beglnninr today with the meeting of the NatiOil Commission. The Amer ican and National lQies hold their annual meetings here tomorrow, but ih':Qromte to If exceedingly lame affair in comparison with the ses sion of the .NQonal Commission, at which a delegation from the minor leagues will present a firm demand for ivitiie desired changes In the na- tlonal agreement. q Kepreaeslatlreaf the clabs cosa- TBB ETGRNB DAILT GUARD MONDAT. Tlia T1H Street, Eugene, Oregon. prising the American Association and the Eastern League were on hand early at the Waldorf-Astoria today In readiness to confer with the National Commission In regard to the plan for mulated at the recent Buffalo confer ence through which the club owners of these two leagues hope to be plac ed in a class by themselves, where they will be unhampered by the re strictions Imposed upon tile smaller organizations and. In effect, will place them on a level with the two big leagues. Leaders In the Amerlcnn Asocla tlon and Eastern League uffect a confidence in the result of the con ference with the governing body. Others who are usually pretty well informed as to the situation do not believe that the two "rebel" organi zations are likely to have such an easy time In gaining their demands. They point out that the changes de manded would destroy the very foun dation of the national agreement and consequently are not likely to be giv en any serious consideration by the National Commission. Some are In-1 cllned to believe that the two big nil nors may kick over the traces If their demands are refused, but the major ity opinion Inclines to the belief that there will be no baseball war for the reason that the heads of the Ameri can Association and Eastern League are among the best experienced men In baseball today and none know bet ter the fate that has Invariably pur sued the outlaw baseball organiza tions.
