Fish er, chairman of th grievance com mittee of the Oregon State Bar As sociation here today by J. A. Finch, the disbarred, lawyer, second only to the killing itself, was the unexpected visit to Fisher's office of Mrs. Fisher. When Finch entered Fisher's of fice and with the words, "Hello, Ralph," on bis Hps fired the fatal shots, Fisher was waiting for his wife and baby son. I Fisher has practiced law in this city four years, coming here from Wondbnrn. His wife was a sister of Thomas B. Kay, woolen manufac turer of Salem. Fisher was 28 years old. He was the man who drafted the resolutions of sympathy to Mrs. Francis J. Heney sent by the bar association. Finch was born In this state and studied law in Albany, while working for a newspaper. . Fisher conducted disbarment pro ceedings against Finch which result ed in his suspension for a year and It was Fisher's refusal to sign a pe tition urging Finsher's reinstate ment that caused today's attack to be made. Finch waB either out of his mind when he shot Fisher, or he Is playing a deep game, using his knowledge of the law to help him in his present dilemma. While he asserted in the most emphatic language that he did not see Fisher at all today and con sequently did not kill him, he talks perfectly frank on all other subjects. He does not plead forgetfulness. on thu other hand 'when the officers who examined him tonight declared to Finch that he had been seen In Fisher's office and had been arrest ed In the Mohawk building and other matters connected with the tragedy, he becomes very excited and told them they were "damned liars." He Insisted that he Is not insane. He says that the news that He was disbarred was a great shock to him. He denied that he had been drink ing excessively since that event. The tragedy occurred In Fisher's private office 322 Mohawk building, Third and Morrison -streets. Miss Vorna Bnrkhardt, Fisher's steno grapher, was the only witness, and she fled screaming from the room, i Tl... I.. .. ... ...... .1 11. .,. I.. A dis patch to the Washington Post says in part: "Senator Fulton is here to offset any Influence which his colleague. Senator Bourne, may have exerted during the past week upon Mr. Tnft. Mr. Bourne is In favor of the election of Governor Chamberlain. Mr. Ful ton, on the other hand, does not be lieve a Democrat should be chosen, since the Republicans have a large majority in the legislature. Mr. Bourne has been hoping to persuade Mr. Taft to express himself In favor of Mr. Chamberlain's election. His colleague hopes that the president elect will not only not be Influenced In such a way, but may take the ex actly opposite position. Logic of Situation "The logic of the situation is that If 'Mr. Taft expressed any opinion at all, it should be In favor of Mr. Ful ton. The latter senator was advocat ing the nomination of Mr. Taft whin Mr. Bourne was Insisting that Pres ident Roocsevelt should be nominated for a second elective term. Mr.. Ful ton worked hard In co-operation with the state organization during the campaign, and the state gave the Re publican nominee a tremendous ma jority. "Mr. Fulton had a long conferenc with National Chairman Hitchcock this afternoon and subsequently .th two men saw the prosld'mt-elect. II may be safe to assume that Mr. Taft will not Inject his personality into the Oregon situation, in pursuance of the policy he already has announced, of not taking part in purely state con troversies. But undoubtedly the sym pathy of Mr. Hitchcock is with the senior senator jind this may signify a' great deal In the event he decide- to exert himself in Mr. Fulton's be half. WHY Sl'FFKR? Just as long as you have catarrh your nose wlll'llch, your breath "will be foul, you will hawk and spit, and you will do other disgusting things because you can't help yourself. The germs of catarrh have got you in their power; they are continually and persistently digging . into and irri tating the mucous membrane' of your nose and throat. They are now making your life miserable; in time they will sap your entire system ol Its energy, its strength, its vigor and vitality. If you do not kill the loathsome germs of catarrh, their desperate as saults will In time und, erinlno your reason, rob your brain of Its bril liancy and nctlvity, and leave you not only a physical but a mental wreck. This picture Is not overdrawn; the writer has seen thousands of Just such eases. He has personally expe rienced the demoralizing results that come from the ravishing attack. of the horrible catarrh germs, the great est pest of civilized nations. But there Is one remedy that will kill the germs and cure catarrh, and that Is Hyoinei, the Australian dry air treatment. There may be other remedies, but. they are not guaran teed as The Red Cross Drug Company will guarantee Hyomel to cure ca tarrh, or money back. Don't delay this pleasant antiseptic treatment. Kvery day you allow these germs to exist In your system you bring nearer complete demoralization. The Red e.... r. n ,., XKV IiAXE COUNTY MAP..'"'. My Lane County Map is now readv from the printer.
