C. game ba played in Portland each year, thej athletic council will have one or me i hardest questions to decide that has come before it In years. The pre vailing opinion at the University is that the game should be made a campus affair, and that the spirit should enter college athletics that pervades the great Eastern Institu tions. No collegiate contests should be played on other fields than those Of the campus of one of the contest ants. The fact that the contest last Sat urday was so successful financially adds greater pressure on the council. It appears not unlikely that the fi nal decision will rest with the fac ulty. The graduate manager, C. N. Mc Arthur, Is known to favor the move of making the annual game between Oregon and O. A. C. In Portland a permanent feature of the schedule. Other members of the alumni, many of whom are residents of Portland, also back him in his demand. For them It adds greatly to the conven ience of attending. The students do not like the idea mainly for the reason that it makes the expense greater, so that many of them will not be able to attend throughout their college career the biggest game of the season. Some of the faculty do not like the proposed change, - because It makes University athletics -appear commer cialized. The actions of college root ers, they also 'claim;' will not be un der ,liwrr commands and- are likely to lose their college flavor. . ; "When 'the"-'cohtracta were drawn for the game in Portland which was played last Saturday, it was verbally agreed that the precedent should not bind for the coming season. COTTAGE GROVE DENTIST WEDS AT DAYTON Dayton, Wash., Nov. 24. Frank Ingram, of Cottage Grove, Or., and Miss Maude Samuels, of this place, Were married yesterday at noon by Rev. T. S. Dulln. The wedding was an artistically appointed affair. The bride is a daughter of J. F. Samuels, one of the leading merchants of this place. While a large audience was enjoying a musi cal comedy at the Grand opera house last night Walter Luckey, a young man, blew out his brains with a rifle in the foyer of the theatre. Luckey, who was 30 years of age, stood at the theatre entrance with a Winchester rifle.
