All of the members of President Roose velt's family returned home today, for their last Thanksgiving Day In the White House. At the executive mansion, as in other departments of the government service, the day was made as much of a holiday as pos sible. The secretaries and clerks were given the day off and the Presi dent, after an hour or so spent In his office In the early forenoon, shut up shop, as he said, and prepared to spend the remainder of the holiday with his family. This afternoon the President left the White House long enough to attend the laying of the cornerstone for the Negro Y. M. C. A. building that is to be erected at 12th and S streets. Turkeys for the Millions., New York, November 26. Thanks giving Day was celebrated today throughout New York more generally than last year or the year before, probably owing to the fact that busi ness has shown marked Improve ment since the election. Thanksgiving is always a great day in this city, but this year the day was celebrated with even more than the usual fervor. The people seemed to think that they had som esppclnl reasons to be thankful and they did not hesitate to give appropriate ex pression to their feeling of gratitude. The price of turkoys was high, but that did not seem materially to aff fect the consumption of that delir ious fowl. Those who could afford It bought their own turkeys and for those, who could not, somebody else provided turkeys. The Salvation Ar my and the Volunteers of America were, as usual, the leaders In char ity on a large scale. They provided Thanksgiving dinners for many thousands of poor people In all parte of the city. As in former years the prisoners In the county Jail and the boys In John Worthy school, were given a holiday, with turkeys ana many otn I Washington, On., Nov. 26. To-i morrow is the date fixed for the oxo-l cntlon of the negro. Kd Fallln. whose I trial for murder took place before the superior court here several weeks ago. Fallln's crtmo was the murder of Robert Johnson, another negro, of whom he was jealous becauso of the hitter's attentions to a negresa with whom Fallln was Infntuated.
