EX:SENATOR CARMACK
VICTIM OF POLITICAL
FUED IN TENIftSSEE
Nashville, Tenn., Nov. 9. Ex-Senator
Edward Caruiack, editor of the
Teunessean, was shot and killed at
4 o'clock this afternoon on Seventh
avenue north in front the I'olk
Flats, by Robin Cooper, son of Colo
nel Duncan 11. Cooper. Mr. Carniack
was going north on Seventh street
In front of the flats and Colonel
Cooper and his sou Robin were ap
proaching Seventh avenue on Union
street. Soon after they came into
sight of one another the shouting was
begun, Robin Cooper, it is said, fir
ing two shots and Senator Carniack
one.
Colonel Cooper, it is said, drew his
pistol, but did not fire.
Due to Kditoriul Attacks
Senator Carniack fell to the
ground, dying instantly. Robin Coop
er was shot -In the right shoulder, but
not badly wounded.
It is understood that the trouble
was one of the results of a recent
Democratic gubernatorial primary, in
which Carniack was defeated. Car
mack, since he became editor of the
Tennessean, has been caustic In crit
icising what he called the Democratic
machine, and had printed several edi
torials about Colonel Cooper.
Within the last few days, it Is as
serted, Colonel Cooper notified Car
mack that these editorial criticisms
must cease. Another editorial refer
ring to the colonel appeared in the
paper this morning and it Is supposed
to have been the immediate cause of
the trouble.
Assassin 27 Years Old
As Senator Carniack fell at the
edge of the street Colonel Duncan 13.
Cooper put his arm around Holiin
Cooper and both walked a few feet
down Seventh avenue to Dr. K. G.
Ford's, where the slight wound in
Robin's shoulder was examined and
treated. An ambulance carried the
body of Mr. Carniack to an undertak
ing establishment.

A Woman Finds All Her Kliergv ami
Ambition Slipping Away.
Eugene women know how the
aches and pains that come when the
kidneys fall make life a burden,
liackache, hip pains, headaches, diz
zy spells, distressing urinary troub
les, all tell of sick kidneys and warn
you of the stealthy approach of dia
betes, dropsy and Height's disease.
Doan's Kidney Pills permanently
cure all these disorders. Here's proof
of it in a Eugene woman's words:
Mrs. L. E. Abbot. 4S4 Pearl street.
Eugene, Oregon, says: "Last winter
I was taken down with a bad spell
of kidney complaint and my back he
came so weak and lame that I could
hardly move. I took various remedies
but did not derive any benefit. Fin
ally Doan's Kidney Pills were rec
ommended to me by a friend and my
husband procured a box at DeLano's
drug store. They proved to be all
and more than is claimed for them.
As I used them, the pains and weak
ness left me and my kidneys were
strengthened. I consider Doan's Kid
