COIIVAM.IS I'UOSI'MTS SLIGHT LY FADK OKLGOX HAS TWO .MONTHS I'OK PICLPAItATION YAI.K KYSTKM AGAINST MM HI GAX. While perhaps no harder than oth er contests, the Interest of the ljI versity 'sludentB In the football pros pects lies In the O. A. (.'.-Oregon con test on the Saturday preceding Thanksgiving. Last year's defeat ad ded to the zest of the season and as O. A. C. takes the same view, the greatest game of the year for the two state colleges and '.he whole state of Oregon will be the annual struggle, which will be played in Portland on November 21. O. A. C, up to the present time has been thought to have much bright er prospects than Oregon, for it was expected that the larger part of her men would return. A Corvallis pa per of a late date slates that both tackles, Bennet and the giant, Jami son, will probably not return. Rhine- hart, one half-buck and hmlly. one. end, also will probably be absent, with one or two of the center trio, a guard or cenrte, and lianan, a Hose- burg player, alBo will not play. Alto gether there will be six veterans against Oregon's five. However, Norcross, of the farmers, has the advantage of knowing his men, and having their fullest confl- dece. Coach Forbes, on the other hand, has everything to develop out- Bide of the five regulars. Both teams ought to be about equal In kicking ability, Wolff bear ing the reputation backed by re peated performance as being as good as Clarke and Moulien. Forlx's A MaKter. While different In build from Nor cross, and In almost everything, both men apparently have the same qual ity of getting along with their men and keeping them good humoured. Judging from the few nights' prac tice, Forbes, while strict, will be kind to the measliest scrub on the squad. "Billy" Woods, substitute quarter back last year, will not try for the team this year on account of an in jured knee, which was hurt last fall. Ben Grout, a East year's substitute guard who played considerably on the first team, will not return to col lege until the second semester. "Mike" Walker, who Is working in Roberts Brothers store, was thought to be a candidate for the line posi tion with a particular good show, but failed to enter college, business be ing more attractive. Thus the situation appears that O. A. C. has a slight advantage In ex perience, which may possibly be ov ercome by Oregon's fine bunch of. new material. The final victory will probably fall to the system which proves the best, the Yale or the Michl Ran. And on this fact the Interest of hundreds of Eastern college men In the Northwest Is baaed, some with O. A. C. and others with Oregon. University Items. The frame work of a temporary recitation building Just across from the heating plant, Is completed. Despite the Increased number of club organizations and the thorough canvas of the city for rooms and boarding plnces, many students are having trouble to find suitable quarters.
