She was tender, and had a true love for her fother. who waa a "booze Heritor." The plav Is a melodrama, hut not one of the' Impossible kind. Kmollon and vlllany are not overdone. There is plenty of comedy In It to plense any one. The acts begin light but develop Into good dramatic periods at the close. The applause was lib eral and spontaneous. I here is a rise In the climaxes of the acts until the fourth. But the last act was more of a comedy than a stern court trial when a life Is at stake. It was almost a burlesque which, while ex tremely funny, was In no sense close to remote reality. The plot Is unrav eled by a neat trick on the part of the defense that traps the guilty and sets the mountain maid free. The company Is well balanced and gave good support. Mrs. Mattle Perkins, as Mrs. Bridg et O'Dowd, did somu clever Irish im personating and was a favorite be cause of her testy temper and her co pious flow of genuine Irish wit. Her pet expression was "Sufferln' Moses" and It took. She Beemed natural and a true duughter of the "old sod" merely transplanted. Dale IJevereaux, as Harry Meyers, a Yale man, was satisfactory and played a straight forwrd part.
