A. L. Swartz 'and G. S. Keck have purchased ! thrity-three feet on the Avenue op i nosite the bank from the Odd Fel 'lows, consideration, $1,000. This ! leaves the Odd Fellows a frontage of ; forty feet. Tnis deal nas Deea nuugiug lire tor some time but was finally closed. The Odd Fellows wll put up a two story brick or concrete buiding on the corner, the first story will be for business purposes and the second will be a home for the Odd Fellows which will be fitted up exclusively for their use. Messrs.. Swartz and Keck will also nut up a two story building at the same time and the middle wall will be built Jointly. Swartz and Keck expect to occupy their own buiding while the Odd Fellows will have no difficulty In se curing a long ease as they have ap plications on file since they first talked of putting up a building. In this connection we may as well state that two more brick blocks will be erected here soon, hardly this fall but earlyln the spring. F A Bal lard and Wm. Schroder expect to erect a dou-be building on Front street on the site of the buildings re cently burned. We are not Informed as to what use Mr. Ballard will make of his new building, but Mr. Schroder expects to occupy his him self and again start up his bakery and may add another line at the same time. Junction has the pros pect of more building next year than it has enjoyed for gome time. The threshing machine known as the Junction City thresher which Is owned by a number of farm era claims to have made the best run for 1 day's run this season in this sec tion. The thresher has only a 28- inch cylinder, but In 11 hours run with two moves, threshed 2679 bushels. If any other machine around here an beat this record, we will be glad to hear of it. David Beattle died at the Soldiers Home in Roseburg, September 10 1908, aged 76 years. Mr. Beattie was a pioneer of this place and con ducted one of the first blacksmith shops. He was a veteran of the In dian war and received the usual pen sion for services rendered.: Mr. and Mrs. Haven Belknap have returned to Junction and have rented Miss Nellie Folsom s new cot tage. Mr. Belknap will put up pre scriptions for Johnson & Cooley. Born September 14, 1908, to Mr and Mrs. O. C. Gould, a daughter. Times. ... ... BILTEU OF EUGENE, EXPIRES IN PORTLAND. Surrounded by her Immediate family, MVs. Sarah P. Irvine, one of the early pioneers of Linn County, died Thursday evening at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Allan B. Slauson, of this city, at the age of 75 years. Mrs. Irvine had been a long suf ferer from heart trouble and for sev eral weeks had been In a critical condition. Mrs. Irvine was born In Ohio, and with her father and mother, came across the plains to Oregon In 1852. Her father was Dr. Elliah Smith, of Salem, a well-known pioneer. She married, at the age of 19, Robert A. Irvine, a pioneer who afterwards be came prominent In politics, repre senting Linn County In the State Senate for several years. He died at their home In Albany nine years ago. Mrs. Irvine was a woman of high character and a devout Christian. Her Immediate family who survive her are three daughters Mrs. E. L. Thompson and Mrs. A. B. Slausen of Portland, and Mrs. L. Bllyeu of Eu gene. Mr. A. M. Williams of Mc Minnville is a granddaughter and Dr. Lloyd Irvine of this city, Is a grandson She U survived also by the following brothers and sisters John R. Smith of Lebanon; Hiram Smith, Mrs. Amanda Bosler and Tay lor Smith of Salem: Mrs. Eliza Royce of Nwport; Elijah Smith, of Lafayette; Mrs. Mary Mateer of Fos sil. Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 3 o'clock at the home of her daughter, 585 Tillamook street, conducted by Dr. Luther R. Dyott. of the First Congregational Church. The remains wll be taken to Albany for Interment. Services "ill be held at the Grace Presbyter ian Church at 2:30 p. m. Sunday Hev. A.
