Salem. Sept. 7. R. G. Hunter, un
til recently local representative for
the International Correspondence
Schools, is being sought by the po
lice for alleged theft and embezzle
ment. Hunter Is charged with hav
ing bought a large bill of furniture
on the Installment plan and then hav
ing borrowed $150 from each of
three different men on the furniture.
For this and other alleged offenses
he Is badly wanted. His wifo Is al
leged to be with him.
Hunter Is well known in Eugene,
where be and hlB wife have visited
frequently.

So great have been the number of
entries In the Standardbred classes
of horses for the coming Oregon
State Fair, at Salem. Sept.. 14-19,
(hat the board of agriculture were
compelled to provide additional barn
room. This has been done in the
shape of a large barn 220 feet long
by 42 feet wide, which will afford
box stalls for 4 0 horses, each stall
being 11 12 feet, and these are
located on either side of a seventeen-foot
driveway, which ertends
the entire length of the structure.
The barn Is fitted with all accommo
dations for the horses, and It 1b well
lighted and ventilated. There Is
barn equipment now for 2T.0 Stand
ardbreds and Thoroughbreds.

mlngB, an Invalid, who lives near
Halsey, came to town last Friday and
had seven teeth extracted by a dentist
from Harrlsburg, who comes to Hal
sey each Friday. Her mouth bled so
badly that night that a physlclau
was called, who expressed fear of her
bleeding to doath. She was unable
to go home, and is at the home of
her father-in-law. Berry Cumnilngs,
where she Is scarcely able to move
from loss of blood. Mrs. Cummlugs
experienced the samo trouble a few
years ago from the same cause.
