house for them in Eugene. This is bad for him and bad for Eugene.
The real estate men tell us they cannot supply half the demand for houses. -

NORTHWEST LEAGUE
Arthur Pendeivthe best left-handed
pitcher In the Trl-City league, this
year, and probably the best twirler in
it also, left last night to join the
Aberdeen team of the Northwest
league. Manager "Ked" Brown wired
Jack Helser yesterday, affering the
lad $100 a month and transportation
if he would report at Seattle, and
Pender left on the next train.
Pender is a coming twirler. He is
2 4 years old, unmarried, of excellent
habits, and has been Improving year

son, and his great pitching was large
ly responsible for capturing second
place for the Vancouver, Wash., team.
