turned last night from Newport
where they have been on a week's
outing. During their absence their
residence on East Eleventh t,treet
was broken Into by burglars, as
chronicled by The Guard at the time.

night and this morning Mr. and Mrs.
Goldsmith missed nothing at all and
are of the opinion that the burglars
were rrlghtened away by somebody
or something.
The bids of the Waren Construc
tion Company for the paving of Park
streets were accepted at the meeting
of the council last night. E. R. Mum
mey received the contract for the
manholes and for grates, and the
American Paving company iui uuim
ing the curbiugs. The company ex
pects to begin work at once.
The city engineer reported the
amount ot work done on West Elev
enth, Oak and Olive streets by the
Warren Construction Company as
$11,726.76, und 80 per cent, or $9,
310.20, was allowed. The American
Paving Company was allowed $930.
