IDUTIjAM) MAKKKT ItKPOUT Portland. Or., July 1. A party of hop dealers, consisting of Koss Wood, of the Harry L. Hart Com pany, of Portland; James W. Linn and Kola Nets, of Salem, and Ju lius Wolf, of Silverton, have re turned from a three days' automo bile tour In the principal hopgrow Init sei-tions of the state. The trip was made for the purpose of In specting the condition of the yards and to set at rest the uncertainty that haa prevailed as to the probable crop return. This Is the first time the bop belt has been Jointly In spected in so thorough a manner, and being representative and conser vative men their opinlnon on the subject carries much weight ' According to the dealers the crop of the state, as a whole, Is In excellent condition, but will prob ably fall considerably under the yields of the last two years. The shortage Is the effect parlly of the re duction In arreaue, but principally the neglected or Indifferently cultl viited cundltion of many of the yards, tlrowers who gave Iheir propertv the usual good attention will have big yields per acre. Had the entire acreage been properly cultivated bumper crop would have been the re sult. As It Is, the yield, according to the hop men in the party, 1 probably be . somewhere betw l.iO.oon and 130.1100 bales. Last year Oregon raised nearly 140.1)00 bales and two years ago 1 60,000 bales. HrW Nirten of Tntile. While trade In eggs Is hetter. prlcea are unmoved because buyers refuse to pay more. Chicken market is about 25c low er lth Isrger supplies of California ; reds. I Peach market Is better as regards demand but prices are generally rul !lng between 75c and 90c. Takes some select to go above that. Loganberries are mixed aa lo price with some dealers offering best quality as low as l. String brans are lower with larger supplies from the upper Columbia. California green corn is disappoint ing and prices are severely cut. Cherry market shows no demand I'xcept for something select. od Sale at Condon.
