SJTl'KNAY, JUNE 20, l!lon " G0OI CHOI'S 1XSIHK GEXERAI, l'KOSPFKITV How splendid are the material pros pects of the nation as it enters the June reckoning of the fields nature Is now preparing for the harvest! Tnere have boen eiglit successive crop rears of great abundance. The new century has not been a failure and now every condition promises for this yesr a yield such as the republic has nerer known, surpassing in Its bounty Ten the riches harvested last year, when the soil yielded products val ued at seven billion dollars, says the Los Angeles Express, Over Seventeen million acres of wheat were sown In the spring, f31, 100 more than last year. The spring- town wheat Is In excellent condi tionover 7 per cent better than at tbe same time a year ago, and sur passing even the average percentage of condition for the past ten unpre cedented years. The condition of iluter wheat, while low in some states, is for thp whole country near ly 10 per cent better than it was a rear ago. Thirty-one million acres oloats, in prime' condition, await the binder. Should ordinary good for tune attend the progress of the sea- I son. It is probable that th? value of farm products of the Cnited States for the current year will ex ceed the total attained last year by oterone billion dollars. Whatever check on business ar- I tlrity may lie Imposed by the polit ical uncertainties of a presidential I year, no adverse circumstances (in long withstand such ningnlfiiynt and such real prosperity. The creation of -that stupendous mass of fresh wealth will revivify the nation In all its length and breadth. We shall see such a period of growth and pro gress,, of activity In all lines of trade and Industry, as the union ):as never looked upon. The dawn of the new bright day I already reddens the sky. The short night of doubt and difficulty is near ly done. Judge Hanna, of the Southern Ore- I'on district court, has derided that Bedford's city charter overrules the IsUte local option -law and that the I (lty may- remain wet, although the tlre county was voted dry.
