THE o E DAILY VOL. 83 GUARD SUNDAY SCHOOL WORKERS MEET . IN CONVENTION ' Lotiisille, June 20. An Important leature of the twelfth annual imer mtlonal Sunday school conventi,,;-. wis the adoption of the report or tin International lesson committee whuh prepared the lessons for all SuioLiy ichools, aggregating a membership of tliteen millions. - a. C. Hazard, of Boston, presi dent of the Sunday school eJm-aiioii-il association, delivered an address m "Graded Lessons Why Should They Be Used?" . He said; "In changing from the uniform toe graded lessons a school would lose the possibility of holding gener al teachers' meetings. But few teach ers' meetings are successful, mainly because the special needs and difficul ties of the different grades are not considered. Teachers of smaller chil dren, who neglect their own teachers' meeting, often at considerable trou ble, to attend a primary union be cause they there get just the help they need. The fact suggests that it will be easier to get .together the teachers for the same grade, for hav ing the same problem to meet they will, get more help from each other. Better teachers' meetings of this sort will result from having graded lcs sone. . "Graded lessons are conceived on the right principle the right mate rial for each grade in the school. If that principle will be cnrried out. there can be no question as to their ultimate adoption by the schools. I fully believe that American teachers are quick-witted enough to perceive what will serve them best. The grad ed lessons before us have been so carefully prepared that It would be folly not to give them a fair and full trial." 1MILLS DESTROYED BY EXPLOSION WILLIAMS GIVES UP LEADERSHIP OF MINORITY Dcnv.r Ju,,,. -v -There vr I -Jay. and co ' ;,. , ' " ti e eiitt-e plant fd. :t!;d do,-',. rush. .1 to th,. ll,'!': Ah:, i. were Liii ,.:,!), ,i 'as of inn! n, siiuatc.1 nii! ver.
