The eyeball has three coats, the Sclerotic or ouler coat, the Choroid or middle coat, and the itetlna or Inner coal, 1 lie sclerotic coal Is a thick, tough, white, ribrous struc ture, the front part of which Is com monly called "the while of the eye". This Is covered with a very thin, transparent membrane called the (,'onjunctlna, which gives tu thu while of the eye a brilliant luster. The sclerotic Joins the corneu In front nnd the optic, nerve In bnck, where It Is Iho thickest. Tho next or middle coat, tho choroid, is com posed of a dense network of capillar ies and veins. Hot ween these are many cells containing dark pigment. This coat extends as tar forward us the rllllary muscle and cryslnllne lens where It forms a little plaited frill around the lens, called the cil iary processes. The third, or Inner coal, is the Kutlna, this Is a direct Dill I II II lit In 11 of the oplle nerve, which conns from the brain. The retina lines the whole interior of the eye, as far forward ss the ciliary pro cesses where It ends In a Jagged margin. This Is the nervous mem brane of the eye, and may be com pared to the sensitive plate of a camera because the picture of the object looked at Is Imprinted upon II. Kroni the retina the message Is eoiiveed to the bialu by mean of the Optic nerve. At the enlrauce f the optic nerve or Porus Opticus, there Is no vision and this Is called the blind spot. In a direct line wlih the pupil Is a de pression In the retina and here vis ion Is most keen. This Is why, when we are looking at an object, It stands out most distinctly and the objects to I he side, above, and below II are less distinct. The retina Is extremely thin, semi-transparent, and composed of many layers. Next week Die erniuetroolc or normal eye-ball will be il'-scribed.
