W. It A K ER AND THE t'Ol'XTY Jl'DOESHTP. South Lane County has one man, and one only, J. W. Baker, out for a county office, and it is an import ant one. Will South Lane stand by the home man? What his politics may be counts for little in compari son with the roads and bridge ques tion and development of South Lane. Cottage Grove Leader. o John Baker, ex-state game war den and now candidate for county Judge on the democratic ticket, Is going to make an active campaign, and It is just possible that this of fice may go to the Cottage Grove man. Mr. Baker is a level headed fellow, a man of experience In pub lic affairs, and no more interested In the county seat than he Is at Junc tion, Florence or any of the other Lane County towns. His slogan Is "a square deal for every section of the county and every man thereof" and he says he don't see why a demo crat hasn't just as good a right to be county judge as sheriff in old Lane.
