This is a step In the right direc tion and cannot but help to be a means of Insuring better work and better satisfaction to the public, although the Kugene exchange is not ed for its efficiency and pr.nnpt ser vice. The girls now employed by the company here are of a better class and character than formerly employ ed and there is seldom a complaint from the phone-using public in re gard to lack of courtesy on the part of the girls at central or of lack of quick service. Traveling men who visit nearly every city in the state say that the service Is better here than at any other place In the state. Now that the employes and the tel ephone company are doing their best to give a prompt and courteous ser vice, the patrons should try and make things as pleasant as passible for the operators.
