A !a'e Issue of the New Y .rk C'omnienlnl says of the Ntw York apple market: "There Is a large accuniulation of apples on hand In this market, and on all offerings the tone is weak. Dealers here do not hesitate to as sert, that the losses made by specu lators and holders at primary points will be large, Mid It Is freely predict ed that the total will exceed $1,000, 000 on the 1907 crop. There are few .apples on this market that sell for $4.;0 per barrel.. The bulk, of the sales are within a range of $2 to $3 per barrel, few lots, however, I reaching the outside figure. The market has been demoralized by the heavy stocks of low-grade fruit. l-'HK Hears Outdo Themselves. Just as has been predicted the egg bears members of the Knockers' Club have outdone even themselves and suffering from defeat they are planning new schemes to secure additional profit out of shippers. As forecasted in this report, the egg market went no lower than 15c on the present movement and today no sales are being made at that low figure. The market now ranges at 15 1-2 and 16 cents with stiles at both figures. The disposition among the bears here to beat down the price too far resulted in many shippers taking the matter Into their own hands and storage operations by valley shippers have begun In earnest. This OpiMKiitc Tone in Chickens. Chickens are it) somewhat more liberal arrivals though the market Is far from being glutted. Some sales are being made at a fractional de cline for old hens but springers are In demand at top figures. Demand for best quality turkeys Is very good I at fair prices. Itnttei' Is Very Scarce Here. Supplies of local butter are very small in comparison to the demand which has ruled since the last cut in prices. Best grade Is almost unob tainable and It Is stilted that In a few instances a fractional' advjmv In prices has been asked. In. urdur to relieve the shortage to sume ex tent a larger volume, pf California butter Is being brnpulit to this mar ket. This soil ft the same, price s ttne local proiiict; a condition that very seldom rules here. ! lion. S. B MonmoMth. A. .1.
