One of the Important Duties of Physicians and
the weu-intormed of the World
it w learn as to the relative standing and reliability of the leading manufactur
s of medicinal agents, as the most eminent physicians are the most careful as to
fhe uniform quality and perfect purity of remedies prescribed bv them, and it is well
known to physicians and the Well-Informed generally that the California Fig Svrup
Co by reason of its correct methods and perfect equipment and the ethical character of
its product has attained to the high standing in scientific and commercial circles which
'.accorded to successful and reliable houses only, and, therefore, that the nam of the
J? ,nv has become a guarantee of the excellence of its remedy.
TRUTH AND

QUALITY
noeal 1o the Well-informed in every walk of life and are essential to permanent suc
cess and creditable standing, therefore we wish to call the attention of all who would
iiov good health, with its blessings, to the lact that it involves the question of right
living with all the term implies. With proper knowledge of what is best each hour
of recreation, of enjoyment, of contemplation and of effort may be made to contribute
to that end and the use of medicines dispensed with generally to great advantage, but
s in many instances a. simple, wholesome remedy may be invaluable if taken at the
proper time, the California Fig Syrup Co. feels that it is alike important to present
truthfully the subject and to supply the one perfect laxative remedy which has won
theappoval of physicians and the world-wide acceptance of the Well-infot Tied because
of the excellence of the combination, known to all, and the original method c manufac
ture which is known to the California Fig Syrup Co. only.
t This valuable remedy has been long and favorably known under le name of
Svrjp of Figs and has attained to'world-wide acceptance as the most excellent of
family laxatives, and as its pure laxative principles, obtained from Senna, are well
known to physicians End the Well-informed of the world to be the best of natural
laxatives, we have adopted the more elaborate name ol Syrup of Figs and Elixir of
Senna as more fully descriptive of the remedy, but doubtless it will always be
called for by the shorter name of Syrup of Figs and to get its beneficial effects always
note, when purchasing, the full name of the Company California Fig Syrup Co.
plainly printed on the front of every package, whether you simply call for Syrup of
Figs or by the full name Syrup of Figs and Elixir of Senna as Syrup of Figs and
Elixir of Senna is the one laxative remedy manufactured by the California Fig Syrup
Co. and the same heretofore known by the name Syrup of Figs which has given
satisfaction to millions. The genuine is for sale by all leading druggists throughout
the United States in original packages of one size only, the regular price of which
is fifty cents per bottle.
Every bottle is sold under the general guarantee pf the Company, filed with the
Secretary of Agriculture, at Washington, 1). C, that the remedy is not adulterated or
misbranded within the meaning of the Food and Drugs Act, June 30th, 1906.

festival to be held In Eugene, the
second week in April are being more
enthusiastically attended than at any
lime since the chorus was first or
ganized. When the chorus appears
at the festival and stnKs the trying
and in many respects difficult num
bers of "Tho Holy City and "The
Golden Legend", Eugene will hear
the largest, best balanced chorus
that lias yet assembled la this place
There Is usually a weakness of tone
in the male voice sections of the av
erase chorus, but the male voices of
the present aggregation number ov
er one third of the 175 that compose
that body and the power and the
quality of the tenor and bass sec
tions are unusually excellent. There
are over sixty sopranos and over for
y altos and the music that this uni
ted body of singers will Interpret
calls f;rth a volume of tone that,
combined with the aceonltnnimen,
Tf the t4 Instruments in the orches
tra, will b at times all but ovor
lMwerir., though at other titn-'s it
will sink to the softest pianissinios.
There hr.s been, especially during
he last few years, great interest at
tached to the music on Baccalaur
eate Sunday at the University. On
these occasions the choruses have
never numbered over 40 voices, nor
the orchestra over 21 pieces, yet
people hnve packed Villard Hall al
most to suffocation, many routine
from out of town points, to hear the
music of that day. But the effect
nroducod by the music rendered a'
those times cannot be compared to
the wonderful impression that the
music of the coming festival will
produce. The chorus will be over
four times as large as the Commence
ment chorus, and the orchestra over
thrc times as larse us tho Com
mencement orchestra, and all of the
orcnestra win ha professional mu
sicians. There will be twetv-two
siclans. There -will m twontv-two
violins playing In unison. These
with ten second violins, six violas
six 'cellos, and four basses will make

This Is the character of the mu(i

ple of Eugene and the tipper valley,
at the April festival and already In

attend the festival and arranging for

of music.
This enlarging of the platform will
consume about BOO square feet of thr
floor space and reduce the seating
capacity of Villard Hall very mater

largest available auditorium, though
it will accomodate only 900 people
