A meeting of the College Hill Im provement Club was held last night at which various mattera of import ance to the residents of the southern portion of the city were discussed. Principal among them was the mat ter of a water supply for College ritu. A - committee was appointed to ascertain the probable cost of a prlvato water system for the resi dents of the hill and to report at the next meeting of the club. Efforts havo been made to Induce the water company to extend Its mains to that portion of the city, but without avail. The mains have been luld to the new hospital, but the pressure there Is very low on account of the altitude and there Is little or no fire protec tion on that account. Tho plan of the club Is to build a standptpe on top of tho hill and pump water from wells, thus giving a good pres.iuro and a supply of pure water for the residents In that vicinity. A committee was also appointed to secure lights for that nart of the city and to secure the numbering of tne nouses.
