THK ri'GEVK DAU.T GUARD, HATTTcnXTr fx i-"" J 0 ! 0 0 I ) ) One of the Important Duties of Physicians and the Well-informed of the World is to learn as to the relative standing and reliability of the leading manufactur ers of inedirinnl agents, as the most eminent physicians arc the most careful a9 to the uniform iiality and perfect purity of remedies prescribed by them, and it is well known to physicians and the Well-Informed Kenerally that 'the California Fig Syrup Co., by reason of its correct methods and jx-rfect equipment and the ethical character of its product has attained to the high standing in scienlilic and commercial circles which is accorded to successful and reliable houses only, and, therefore, that the name of the Company has become a guarantee of the excellence of its remedy. TRUTH AND QUALITY appeal to the Well-informed in every walk of life and are essential to permanent suc cess and creditable standing, therefore we wish to call the attention of all who would enjoy g'.od health, with its blessings, to the lact that it involves the question of right living with all tlm term implies. With proper knowledge of what is best each hour of recreation, of enjoyment, of contemplation and of effort may be made to contribute to that end and the use of medicines dispensed with generally to great advantage, but as in many instances a simple, wholesome remedy may be invaluable if taken at the proper time, the California Fig Syrup Co. feels that it is alike important to present truthfully the subject and to supply the one perfect laxative remedy which has won the siprxjval of physicians and the world-wide acceptance of the Well-Infoi.ncd because . of the excellence of the combination, known to all, and the original method .'. manufac- ture, which is known to the California Fig Syrup Co. only. This valuable remedy has been long and favorably known under ihe name of Syrup of Figs and has attained to world-wide acceptance as the most excellent of family laxatives, and as its pure laxative principles, obtained from Senna, are well known to physicians and the Well-Informed of the world to be the best of natural laxatives, we have adopted the more elaborate name of Syrup of Figs and Elixir of Senna as more fully descriptive of the lemedy, but doubtless it will always be called for by the shorter mime of Syrup of Figs and to get its beneficial effects always note, when purchasing, Ihe full name of the Company California Fig Syrup Co. plainly printed on the front of every package, whether you simply call for Syrup of Figs or by the full name Syrup of Figs and Elixir of Senna as Syrup of Figs and Elixir of Senna is the one laxative remedy manufactured by the California I'ig Syrup Co. and the same heretofore known by the nnme Syrup of Figs which has given satisfaction to millions. The genuine is for sale by all leading druggists throughout the United States in original packages of one size only, the regular price of which is fifty cents per bottle. Every bottle is sold under the general guarantee of the Company, filed with the Secretary of Agriculture, at Washington, I). AMl'SRMKXTS Dorn Thornc. Last night the Krkhardt company presented the four act dramatiza tion of Bertha M. Clay's famous novel, "Dora Thorne." to the biggest house of their engagement. The play was well presented by this excellent company and the gowns worn by the ladles of the company were a feature. Tonight they will be seen for the last time in the brightest and best mel odrama from the pen of Miss Lillian Mortimer, "A Man's Urokeu Prom ise." ' The vaudeville features between acts deserve mention and the Illus trated songs and moving pictures are the best seen here in some time. Nixon and Zimmerman's gorgeous production of the musical fantasy of '.'The Gingerbread Man." will he pre sented by an excellent company at the Eugene treatre, January 30. "The Gingerbread Man" is just as popular today as in the days of our childhood, when he grinned good morning and merry Christmas when h was brought In view. Only the children who show their pleasure in his presence are now children of larger growth, but the Gingerbread man's popularity Is everlasting. The characters of The Gingerbread Man are all old friends. Little .lack Hor ner, Simple Simon, Margpry Daw. Taffy. The Dragon. Sally Ltinn, Fudge, and a whole company of mer ry little people that everyone in the world has known since childhood. Frederic Rankin has written the book and lyrics of this play, and A. Baldwin Sloane has composed the music, which is considered the host work of that 'clever composer. Some of the musical numbers are "Muzic" "Beautiful Lund of Hon Hon." "Moon, Moon. Moon," "John "Dough," "Queen of my Dreams." "Ding. Dong, Ding." and "My Little Teddy Hear." which became the most popular song In New York, Chicago and Philadelphia, where the play had long runs. The first act of The Gin gerbread Man takes place in Santa Clans Land, and the second act on the dividing lines between the realms of King Hnnn and King Sugar Plum The scenic effects of the play arc beautiful, especially the cloud effect when little Jack Horner sings to tht Moon, and a beautiful crescent moon swings Into view, bearing a gorgeous ly gowned girl. Santa Clans' golden chariot and tho handsome reindeer girls add to the plcturesquencss. The company which will present "The Gingerbread "Man" Is an ex cellent one and Includes such well known players as Kvelyn Kellogg. Mabel Day, Nellie Nlee,,Hoss Snow. unrrlPk Major. Fred Nice.
