Hit hniUMMM OS3 CHARLES CROWLEY KILLED ANU btnl NUNN BADLY WOUNDED One man killed, another mortally Munded and a third slightly wound fij is the result of a shooting affray ,t Marcola -about 3:30 this afternoon The affair was between Charles Cro'ley and Bert Nunn, who met at Price 4 Weber's store and emptied their revolvers at each other. Crow ley died soon after receiving hH rounds and Xunn Is said to be In a terv serious condition A man nam ed Ireland, -who, It seoms, was a by stander, received a wound of a minor uia ore. Crowley, who was a singje man figfd about 30 years, ilived at the house kept by Mrs. Alice Cruzau, who was tried and convicted in the Jus tice court In Eugene this morning for selling liquor In vlolat'on of the local option law. He was known as a "had man," and apparently had no means of livelihood. Xunn is a respectable citizen , a man 'of family, formerly residing at (iosheri and Springfield, and tins been working at one of the logging ramps at Marcola for some time past. He was a "wit ness against Mrs. C'ruran In her trial this morning, and on that account had trouble with Crowley. It is said that Crowley made threats against Nunn several times during theMlay. and while they were on their way from Eugene to Marcola this after noon. Nunn was shot through the abdo men and it is probable that he will not recover from "his wounds. It could not be learned over the tele phone this afternoon how many shots entered his body, nor where the shots fired by Nuim entered the body of Crowley. Immediately after the shooting Sheriff Fred Fisk. Deputy Prosecut ing Attorney ('.. F. Skipworth and Coroner V. T. Gordon were notified, it was first reported that Crowley had not been killed but afterward it few was learned that he expired minutes after the shooting. Nunn will he broil"1" Kuireno on this evening's WenilnnS local, and his wounds attended to at the Eu gene local. It is also probable that Crowley's body will be brought down on the same truln for the inquest. ANOTHER PERIL.
