Otto's Confectionery WILL ADD TWO STORIES TO i BUILDINGS i J. B, ColeiM Writis That Hi Will I Bb Hin Soon to Arrange for Be ginning of Work to Enlarge His ; One Story Bricks -Will Be Largest i . Three-Story Block in City Two more stories will be added to the one-story brick buildings occu pied by Julius Goldsmith's and Lee Hoselton's cigar stores and the shoot ing gallery on Willamette Btreet this 'summer, making the largest three story business block In the city. John B. Coleman, owner of the buildings, who is now residing In San Diego, t'al., removing there three : of four years ago for the benefit of his health, has written to his agents here stating that he will arrive In Eugene In les3 than two weeks to arrange for the work. Plans for the addition have not yet been completed, i but It Is the Intention to build of re- ; In forced concrete, which has come to be a popular kind of building mate rial In the larger cities, especially those in California, and which has only recently been introduced' in Portland. ' The buildings which will be thus added to cover a space 00x114 feet In dimensions. The fronts will be remodeled, and when the Improve ments are completed the building, for It will be one then, will be one of the largest In the city, as well as being the largest three-story structure. Mr. Colemen says he will divide the two upper floors Into sleeping rooms and will perhaps conduct a lodging house, although he may lease the rooms to the Smeede Hotel, as that caravansary fs often crowded. The prospective growth of the city with the advent of the street railway and the paving of the streets will make It necessary for the hotel to enlarge and these lodging rooms will come In handy for that purpose. SPECULATION ON RESULT OF TRACK MEET it Dont Buy a Piano until you Investigate the Mechan ical Construction of Dif ferent Makes TRISS" AT THEATRE TOMORROW NIGHT Tomorrow night at the Eugene the atre thi melodrauna, "Trfss," with a strung cam and under the direction of Steve Burton, will be presented. Sems are now on sale, and judging from the way they are going the theatre will be filled. The cast of characters Is as follows: Nat Weber Wayne Hurd Hank Jordan Graver Francis Jack Hamlin... John Kestley Jonas Grimes. .. .Austin Farrlngton llullelujan Hilly. .. .Verne Apperoon Judge Annanlas Lovetoddy . . . .... Steve Uurton '. Hal Bean Rooters Milt Uurton Frank Knox Mrs. liobey Miss Kate VanDuyn Mrs. Prim Miss Eva Uurton Susie Smith Miss llonnle llaker TRtSS. ..MIS IDA RENDEltSHOTTi Since the final arrangements as far aa settling upon a track meet with Stanford is concerned hare been mad a. for May 3, a great deal of calculating on Oregon's chances has been done, and figures from Stanford are being perused very carefully when obtained. Stanford, It Is under stood, will bring fifteen men here, but no Idea Is had as to just how they will be distributed. All of the reg ular events in the Northwest track meets will be contested, and besides the two-mile run will take place. At Stanford they do not have the dis cus, but the two-mile race Instead, and as Oregon does not have this event both will have to be tried in order to make the meet as fair and even as possible. Stanford Is said to have a much better balanced team than Oregon, and that being the case Moulton, of the Callfornlans, will undoubtedly try to discern Oregon's weak points and make up bis team accordingly. But right there" will be a Tiard task for the foxy southern trafner, for Hay ward, Oregon's trainer, Is equally versed In such littje schemes, be sides having a greater advantage. Stanford's men will be In condition a month before Oregon's, and In spite of every precaution facts will slip through. On the' other hand Oregon ill not have her team anywhere near selected, outside of a few stars, be fore a week previous to the final date. Ih Oregon Stronger? No one knows here if Oregon's team Is stronger than" last year, for though Friessel graduated' and Low ell',. Mitchell and Prldeanx are all out this semester, there are a lot of new men who may All' up the tost men's places. Oregon will have to look out for surprises, too, for in Neal and Hol man Stanford has men who can run the hundred In ten seconds Hat, and Kelly himself Is some races does no better than that. These two men are also good for some very fast time in the 22'0r and as Vandervoort can jump well tip into the small numbers of thp twenties Kelly will have to Se In very good form to win first place In those three events. In the hurdles McFarlund and Peaslee are men who can do as good as any Oregonian has ever donevas are Nash, Maundrell antf Bradford' in the distances. Stanford also has fine men In the pole vault and high jump, capable of 1 1 feet f inches and 5 feet 8 Inches respective ly. ' PASSENGER TRAIN SERVICE STILL WORSE No Ovirlaods Operating Eicept Rot. Hand 12 Big Breaks in Tracks In flothern California Caused By Floods - No Trains Last Night and This Morning Southern Pacific passenger train service Is now In a worse condition than at any time since the storms in the southern part of the state and in California began a few days ago. The rivers in the northern part of California are all flooded, and at Sacramento and Stockton the streets are veritably streams of water, and ! in the latter city some of them are j six feet deep. No passenger trains ! except Nos. 11 and 12 and the Cot-j tage Grove local are running. Ko overlands left Portland last night for the reason that there was no roll-! ing stock there with which to make I up a train and -Vos. 13 and 15 were cancelled. No. 1 1 left the city on I time this morning, and arrived here at or near the schedule time this af ternoon. No. 12 was made up north of the break In the 'track south of here and sent through on time. At Castella and Lomotne, in Nor thern California, the worst trouble is reported and one stretch of 1000 feet of track Is said to be missing at Castella, where the river bed at one place Is said to be 25 feet deep where the track was.
