Prospects Bright for Establishment
of Eight-Company Regiment With
Headquarters at Eugene and to!

Prospects are now bright for the '
establishment in the near future of ft j
new regiment of the Oregon National
Guard, to be known as the Fourth,
with headquarters at Eugene.
The new regiment will comprise
Companies A and C, of Eugene, Co.
B at Roseburg, Co. D at Ashland,
and four new companies to be organ
ized at as many cities In the western :
part of the Btate.
At present there Is one full regi
ment, the Third, and two separate
battalions In the state, the Eugene
companies bolonglng to the First
Separate Battullon. v
The Guard learns from a reliable
source that the new regiment Is .al
most a certainty, and that it will be
established during tlie coming spring
or summer. Mujor Geo. 0. Yoran, of
this city, who Is commander of the
First Separate Dattalion, will doubt
less be chosen colonel of the now
regiment.
