Officers are on his trail and a revenue cutter has gone in the pursuit. Merrill, the companion of Tracey has again been seen, this time appearing near Steilacoom. Officers are again in pursuit of him. Bears in the Corn Pit. 8 pecial to the Guard. Chicago, July 7. A lively flurry occurred in the- market today, and corn has made an advance of 7 cents per bushel. This bearing of prices has been forced by the Gates Harris combine, which have been working for the control oi the corn market. Rich Strike in Mexico. Special to the guard Parrai., Mexico, July 7. One of the richest mining strikes on record has been made here in the San Junica propertyj owned by the Hidalgo Mining Company. A large body of ote has been discovered which runs up in values to $500 per ton in gold and silver.. Considerable ex citement is occasioned by the disccovery. , Panic Feared in Cuba. Tracy appeared at tbe home of John Johnson at Port Madi son, at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon, took possession of tbe premise, and spent the afternoon. He ate .heartily, obaDged clothing and at dusk im pressed a hired man named Anderson into debarking with him In Johnson's rowboat, presumably for the Hood's Canal country. Sheriff Cudlbeebaa praotloally abandoned the search in this county, and at noon Sunday char tered tbe tug Sea Linn and left in hot nurault of the fleeing oonvtot. He went drat t Port Madison, and from there took up tbe chase, accompanied by a small body ot determined guards. The substance of tbe orders is as follows: The camp shall be known as "Camp Williams," in honor of Mayri Qto H Williams, of Portland. Snbdl visions of the brigade will leave their home stations and prooead to camp on Thursday, Juty 17th, aa fol lows: The Third Regiment and Bat tery A by special tratn which leaves Portland at 8 a m, Co A, '1 bird Regi ment, of Oregon City, to D, of Wood bura, and Co F, of Salem, boarding the train on its arrival at those places. Headquarters, band, companies A and C, Eugene; B, Ashland; E Rosebnrg, and H, Grants Pass, will leave by train No 12, BP Co, leaving ABhlaud at 3:56 a m and Eugene at 1.12 p m. Co G and hospital corps of Albany, will march to camp arriving there not later than 9 a u, Tbe Firet Separate Battalion of Infantry from Eastern Oregon will leave on O RAN train No 1, leaving Baker City at 8:U6 a m transferring at Portland to train No. 13. The Signal Corps will leave Cor- vallls at 11 :3S a m. Commanding officers are charged with responsibility for the safety and proper conduct of their men. Commanding officers will at once make requisition for transportation and subsistence while In camp. Tbe uniform will be khaki coats and troasers, campaign bats and leg gings. Commanding oflloera are en joined to see that their men take along with them a sufficient aapply of under wear and toilet articles necessary to insure cleanliness and comfort. The two new county officers, Geo F Craw, treasurer, and, Dr O B King, coroner, formally took their positions today, and the old ones who were re elected started in on a new term, their bone's having been filed and approved. Treasurer Oraw, who Is confined to his borne by illness 1 represented in hie office by his deputy, Frank Raisner, and the work is going on 1 without in terruptioj.
