placed In the couuty jail.
Maher was apprehended by descrip
tions i ent out by the local police of-
fleers. He bad beeu around town here
the day before tbe theft, drawing pic
tures and as he wai lolleriog around
the saloon tbe morning the theft oc
curred, be was suspected of the crime.
Tbe watch and chain were found on
hi perton when he was arrested.

change, has returned from Cottage
Grove ud the Bohemia mining dis
trict sayH the Telegram. Ha covered
90 miles ou horseback, mukiug the
principal properties in the camp, and
