has made a formal offer to Marconi of the necessary sites on
tne rsova bcotia coast on which to erect his wireless teleg
raph station.
This tender is the direct outcome of the protest of the
ocean cable companies against the use of the Newfoundland
coast by Marconi or his agents for experimental wireless
telographic stations.

many years years president of the Welle, Fargo Express
Company is dead after an illness of several months at his
home in this city.

Argentine Republic, has notified the minister from Chile
that Argentina rejects the terms of settlement proposed by

DOUGLAS COUNTY TRAGEDY.

Rosiburo, Dec 21. Henry Hart, a residentof the little
town of Wilbur, ten miles north of Rosebure, fatally shot a
Japanese railroad section man last night.
Hart claims that the Japanese followed him home and
was attempting to break: into his house when he shot.
Ihe presence ot the Japanese at the Hart residence is
accounted for by tho claim that he had been robbed and
that ho accused Hart of the crime.
Hart wai arrested and is in jail. An inquest is beincr
held by the coroner this afternoon.
