"Bud" Howard and Were Killed at Till Glaze Burns.. The killing of Williams Trewells at San Franoieoo last Monday, by his partner, Robert E Glaze, brings up recollections ; o happenings of the past third of i century, extend ing to tbe year 1874, during the war of the rebellion. Polk oounty in this state was the theater of the aotion and Till Qlaze was the principal. He was a brother ol Robert E. The Glaze and Whitley families of Polk ouunty had become on bad terms and Till Glaze killed old man Whitley and his son. M Whitley was a brother to Doc Whitley, well known in Umatilla county, where he long resided and who died a faw years ago either Milton in this county, or at Walla Walla, a matter unsettled by preaen information. ' TILL GLAZE KILLED, The telegram from San FranolBco states that Till Glaze died a violent death a few years ago in Oklahoma This is a mistake. He was killed at Burns, Harney oounty, during the fall raoes of 1890, He was the owner of the horses oalled Cotton nose. "Bud" Howard was a jockey Glaze had promised to give Howard the purse in a oertain raoe if be would "pull" the horse be was riding. Howard "pulled" tbe horse, but Glaze refused to keep his -part of the oootraot. The trouble ooourred in Tex Stillman's saloon Glaze shot Howard, who in turn shot Glaze as he was falling. "Kid" Parker then took a hand in the fiybt and shot Howard. Glaze and Howard both died at once, and Parker was sentenced to the peni tentiary for eight years for the crime. He was pardoned alter having served about three years, BERT ALLEN WAS THERE. Bert Allen, who has recently come to Pendleton Irom Coos oounty, a brother of Ed C Allen, at that time owned a horse oalled "Jordan," and was alttending the burns raoes, and witnessed the killing. W J Bolin, of Pendleton, who has been a resident of Oregon since Au gust 5, 1852, knew tbe Qlazss and Whillevs well in Polk county and was there during their trouble, lie knew TiUGlaz in later years at Prineville, Burns, lioiso and Owyhee oounty, Idaho. He says Till was acquitted of the charge of murler when he killed the twj Whitleys in 1804.
