Frank Hatob, a sort of a roustabout
about 50 years of age, who has mads
Eugene his borne for a couple of years
past, Is In serious trouble through
signing another name than his own to
a negotiable bank obeok.
A man by the name of Davis while
under the Influence of liquor last
Saturday lout or bad a cbeok given by
the Aome Commercial Company tor
$9.57 stolen from bla person. On the
same day Frank Hatoh presented the
check to the First National Bank for
payment, Indorsing the paper wltb
the name ot Davis in the presence of a
bank officer. As he could not secure
the necessary identification the bank
refused to honor the same.
Hatoh tlieo went to the Griffin
Hardware Compauy and bought an
sx for one dollar, getting the balance
of the ohcok $8.67 In obange. This
money be spent for stimulants. Today
he was arrestee! on the serious charge
of forgery by Nighlwatch Croner,

Complete arrangements have been
mad for the establishment of tbe
Booth-Kelly Company's Hospital In
Eugene.
At a conference between a delegation
of employes from tbe various mills and
the oompany held this morning, an
agreement was reached In tbe matter
and the hospital will be open and
ready to receive patients by January
1, 1801.
The plan decided on Is this in brief;
Eaoh employs of tbe company Is to
pay a stipulated sum monthly for the
maintenance of the hospital and when
one becomes 111 or Is Injured he re--1
oelves medical and surgical trsatment
free. A board of managers to be se
looted Jointly by tha oompany and
employes will have entire control of
tbe hospital and will handle all sums
contributed by tbe men for Its main'
tenance.
Aside from tbe central hospital to be
located In Eugene, It Is probable that
branches will be established at tbe
different mill sites, but this is entirely
optional with tbe board of managers
and will be deolded on later.
Tha company will not erect a build
ing of their own for the hospital, as
has generally been.understood.but will
leave tbe location to lire Paine A Kay
kendali who have the oon tract for a
year to furnish all drug and medioal

The Fall of Brooklyn Bridge.
The Brooklyn bridge Is being weak'
ened by eleotrolysis. Its four great
cables are live wires through which

unfortunate acoldeut Tuesday In conse
quence of which he Is carrying bis
bead In a sling. He went out to tbe
warehouse at noon for an armful of
wood, and while loading up, a rick of
wood fell on him. He was struck on
the head, cutting a gash two and one
half Indies in length. It required five
Btitches to bring the gap together. A
scar will be left on his forehead that
time can never erase.
