of Norrls Humphrey. Tbe model
adopted in the new arrangement of tbe
dryer Is the same as Is in use at the
big prune orchard, whtcn Is under

fruit. In Mr Humphrey's orchard tbe
Italian prunes are practically a total
failure. Of Petites there will be a
yield of 2500 bushels. The orchard
comprises 35 acres, half Italian and
half Petite trees, and is one of the finest

George Kerr, a son of the centenari
an miner, is a robust man also, himself
about 60 years of age, aud resides at
Wildwood, Lane county, at tbe foot of
Bohemia mountain. He is a well-to-do
rancher with a pleasant home and

his father to live with him, but to no
avail. Thoold gentleman visits him
occasionally, but persists In continuing
bis mining operations on his own ac
count. Recently on one of these visits
he reached Cottage Grove at night on
tbe train and without stopping for
daylight, struck out and walked 18
miles to his sou's home. He Is not a
prohibitionist but has always been
temperate in the use of liquor, although
even uow be occasionally gets out
with the boys to celebrate the glorious
Fourth of July, or somethiug of that
kind, and on these not frequent occa
sions his boon companions aver that
the old man Is just as young as he used
to bo A daughter recently anlved
from the East and is visiting at the
