rived down from the camp this morn
ing, on his way home. Mr Ongood
has been doing development on the
property with a view to establinlilnic
its depth and nermitrn-ncy, to the end
thai be can determine future opera-!
tloris. It is generally conceded that
this property has bright pro-cls. but
until some dsptn is attained, Mr Os
good will not feel justified In placing
a mill on the property. However, he
will proceed with the work of driving
tunnels aud before long hopes to be
able to place au estimate on the work
ing value of the mine.
Mr Osgood took to the district witn
Dim a mining expert who carefully
looked over the ground, and while Mr
Osgood has nothing definite to say re
garding the mines, he la very well sat
isfied with prospects so far. The
activity of the Blue River district con
tinues uuabated, and is a source of
satisfaction to Lane county, and to
Oregon.

man, mid has not the time at present
to give the road his personal attention
but evinces a disposition to do what be
considers bent for the road and for the
cily. It is to be hoped that affairs

It should be the ambition of Eugene
business men generally to see the
power changed to electricity, and have
the line extended to Springfield
Buch a suburban line as this should
prove a paying investment and would
be a boon to this city.
Vesuuius Has Lost Its Cone
This fiery crater, now suddenly
silent, was explored by scientific men
who discovered that the cone had
disappeared. Several theories are
