W H Bpaugb, well known in Lane county, died here at 6 o'clock this evening. Death came Instantly while its victim was loading his wagon preparatory to starting for the valley. Mr bpaugb. had gotten Into the wagon and while stooping to plok up some thing under the seat, fell forward, not uttering so much as an audible sound. Those preaenc immediately went to the assistance of the prostrate man, but life was already extlnot. The body was token to Florence by special steamer and word sent to the family at Heceta Head and to the coroner at Eugene. It Is supposed that death resulted from a stroke of apoplexy. Wm G Martin. Mr Bpaugb. resided near Junction and was engaged In the hop business for a number of years. He came here from the bouth, and leaves a wife and several children. Mr Bpaugh was one of the organizers ot the People's party In Dane county and state of Oregon. For a time he was actually its leader. Mr Bpaugb was endowed with honest principles. It will be re membered that In the spring when E C Mmith was instrumental in having a large quantity ot flax brought to this county for seed purposes, it was stated that in the fall there would likely be an opprtunity to secure a factory for this city, probably the removal of the plant from Bclo, The flax fiber plants over the entire northern portion of the United States are practically owned or controlled by the same people and they are always on tbe lookout for a good location, .It Is conceded that Lane county Is well adapted to the raising of fine flax, and a proposition is submitted through E Laritnore, manager of the Bclo factory, to.erect one here. They ask for a guarantee of 1500 acres of flax. 2J aores for a site, and a bouus of $2500. It is represented that the plant, will coat $26,000 and will employ regularly about 30 bands.
