About THE CAMP It ACTIVE. The following letter appeared in tbe Oregon Mining Journal of June 16: Bohemia, Ore., June 11, JDOU. ure- son Mlnlnir Journal. Bohemia is once more making an effort to leap forwara as the leading camp of tne Northwest, and from the looks of things now it will not miss it verv far. A visit to the Helena mine alone will show to any mining man that there is something here besides talk. They are milling on 6 feet of ore that is averaging (66 per ton, besides theoonoentratee, which run very high. The mlue Is equipped with a Hammond 6-stamp mill, Challenge ore feeder and a Johnson concentrator, all working like a charm The old Champion mine has changed hands, and will commence new work on a larger scale by Eastern people, Tbe old Knott mine, on Grouse mountain, has eommanoed work again after lying Idle for some thirty years Evervthlne seems to be going for ward with new energy. , Th Griaaley mine, . ou Urlzzley mountain, bave built a new boarding house aud are working day and night, On tbe working level they have 5 feet of solldor gold, oopper and lead. It is a bonanza. Samples from this mine sent to Swansea yielded 9 ounces in gold, 400 ounoe in silver, 20 per cent oopper and 35 per cent lead. This mine was sold to an English Company on those samples. Price not given The Vesuvius mine, on Falrvlew mountain, which was bonded to Mr Park, la now back in the hands of owners again. Tbey have struck the ledge on tbe lower level. The ore is free and high grade. Tests made give 1300 per ton. The Mualo mine Is running steadily with a full orew. Tbey are laying new track to the California tunnel, a they bave a large body of free milling ore in sight and on the dump. A new strike of rioh ore was made in No 6, which they have been sacking up for shipment. Tbey are milling on some handsome ore from No 4. A plan Ii now being drawn to drive a tunnel Into Bohemia mountain, from the west side, whioh will tap tbe Mualo ledge at a depth of 2000 fen. The Power Station will be at Glenwood, wbioh Is a fine location. MrCba Whale, of Portland, just made a visit to his property on Monte Rico ridge. He has a large body of good ore. He has drove over 200 feet of tunnel, and will drive 600 feet this summer. Mr W has gone to New York but will return In three weeks with Eaatern capital to purobaao some other property. Phellx Currin has just arrived with his outfit to commence work on his property on the east slope of Grouse mountain.
