FRUIT ORGANIZATION.
Lane County Union Winds Up Its
Business and Disbands.
A meeting of the Lane oounty fruit
growers was held In the county oourt
room In the oourt house this afternoon.
Although the sun shone, the grass and
foliage was green, and all nature bad
on its brhrhteet colors, the meeting
was a very blue one. No prunes, no
armies, nothing to market, is nine
Inducement to organize to sell some
thing which doesn't exist.
The crop conditions are so unfavor
able that It was decided no organiza
tion was needed this seasoa. In order
to be legally entitled to do business It
would be necessary to have an Incor
porated organization, and this will not
be effected, at least until next fall.
The only business transacted was to
favorably on elder a motion to disband
and wind ud the business of the Lane
County Fruitgrowers' Union.
Passion Play at St Leo's

famous 'Passion Play' as presented
once in every ten years In the little

moment the shepherds first saw the

ful tidings of the birth of Christ, until
the sublime finale when the Redeemer
slowly ascended to heaven, was shown
by a series of pbotographlo tableaux.
The scene of Christ's triumphal entry
into Jerusalem, the rising of Lazarus
from the dead, the last supper, the
trial and condemnation, tbe awful
Journey to Calvary, and finally, the
oruolflxlon of tbe Messiah, were all
given on the canvas. Tbe expressions
on tbe faces of tbe aotors in tbe great
drama could be distinctly seen, and
everything In tbe plotures, tbe cos
tumes, scenery, etc., were Btrlotly
noourate. Tbe originator of the drama,
from whlob these views were taken,
had twice been himself an actor In the
play as given by tbe Bavarian peas
ants, and after coming to this country
pent $126,000 In securing costumes
ud scenery and necessary parapher

"The views were made more interest'
ing by the lecture which was given at
Intervals during the play."

Town of Blum Partly Destroyed
Several Persons Killed.
Dallas, Tex , April 27. A torusdo
passed through Jounson and Hill
oouutUa today, doing terrible, destruc
tion. The town of Blum was parlialy
destroyed, and several persons fatally
Injured. A daughter of Dr Banks bad
a scantling driven through ber body,
and Is in a dying condition. The
8-year-old daughter of D P Hunt bad
both legs broken. Lacey Rotertsou's
wife was caught in their fallen bouse.

The banquet given by ladles of
Woodmen Circle last evening marked
the close of the membership conies

since tbe first of the year. Mrs Linn's
team won over that of Mrs Glbbs, and
consequently Mrs Glbbs and ber ladies
set 'em up tothe victors. The banquet
was in every way satisfactory and one
