How the Day Was Observed in
Eugene.
toaster Sunday lu Eugene was an
Ideal day. The suu was warm, the
air bracing and nature never plumed
herself In colors uiore bright ami gay,
the green grass a'ld foliage and the
varied colored blossoms on fruit trees
and early flowers. It was a day to
tempt everyone to remain In the open
air, and the streets were thronged with
a bappy people.
At the churches of the city every
preparation was made to observe the
resurrection morn, and In no Instanoe
did the program fail of this objeot.
The sermorjB were all In keeping with
the observance of the day, and
the musical numbers were of more
than nsual excellence. Two orders
attended worship in a body, the Order
Eastern Star going to the Presbyterian
church In the morning, and the
Knights Templar to the Eplcopal
vburoh in the evening.
Of the floral decorations of the
varlons churches little need be sild to
add to their appreciation. Tbe flora
of Oregon Is always beautiful, and the
potted plants and out flowers placed in
tbe altar rails and on pulpits seemed to
add a devotional air to tbe oburobee In
keeping wltb tbelr purity and beauty
